my dad suffers from high blood pressure and i dont know why can anyone help?

my dad suffers from high blood pressure the only way we found this out was one day he had some kind of bad fit we took him to the hospital they did tests and nothing was found apart from very high blood pressure they know that the fit was caused due to the high blood pressure but they dont know what is causing the high blood pressure they gave him a chest x-ray come back clear but now they think it is something to do with his brain so now he has to have a brain scan has anyone had this happen before if so please can you help i really want to know what is causing this.
