The first suggestion I have for those who are looking for a remedy for snoring is to adjust the position in which they sleep. If you always sleep on your back, try sleeping on your stomach or side. Sleeping on your side is better for your back, anyway. When you change positions, your tongue changes positions as well. This means that instead of resting against the back of your throat and causing you to snore, it can shift and move to the side of your mouth. When it's on the side of your mouth, there's nothing blocking your airway and you'll be less likely to snore.

If you've tried my roll over suggestion and it hasn't worked, it may be time for you to take an objective look at your lifestyle. Are you a smoker? If so, it may be time to kick the habit. Quitting smoking is definitely a tried and true remedy for snoring, and when you consider the science behind it the cure makes sense. When you smoke on a regular basis, your throat muscles weaken. Additionally, the smoking tends to cause mucus to gather in your airway. The two can combine to cause you to snore. While stopping smoking for good isn't as easy of a fix as rolling over onto your side, it may be the only effective remedy.
